All my reviews are glowing... I know. But, that is because I do plenty of research before buying
these items.
This book was recommended by a close friend. It is the most comprehensive
collection of thoughts, advice and information, with regards to entering the magic market place, you
will ever read.
It is also very nicely written. Non of it is 'preachy'. Quite the opposite.
While reading... it felt like an old friend was sitting opposite me sharing everything he had
learned from years of experience.... because he actually WANTS you to succeed.
A very
informative, pleasurable read.

Take a look at the ad copy, particularly the bullet points and the chapter titles. It's all in
there. It's well written; it's quite comprehensive; and I really believe that Maxwell Murphy was
telling the truth in his title. I really believe that he held back nothing, that he truly does share
everything he has learned. Books like this are worth their weight in gold.

This book fulfills a long awaited need. You do not have to be someone who is contemplating putting
out a new effect. Anyone, whether he a pro, semi pro, hobbyist, collector, inventor, manufacturer,
seller,or addict, will find this book to be an engrossing read. The ad copy tells the subjects
covered. Maxwell addresses all (or most?)of the problems the inventor will face and how to increase
his chances of success. His asides on magic dealers, inventors, and publications in our field are
fascinating. Read it and heed it. I don't know of any other past publication that has gone into such
depth on the targeted subject. This book is a must read for all of us.

Let me start by saying I'm not intending on inventing anything, I'm not sure why I purchased this
book. However I really could not put it down. I tend to read several books at once and usually over
a long time. I took the day off just to read this book – it's that engaging.
I really
appreciated the openness of the information. Maxwell admits where he really made a mess of it, and
demonstrated where the kicked goals (and fesses up which were just luck). It read as a personal
journey at times (that might be what hooked me) yet gave fabulous real world examples and gritty
data for how much you can expect when selling to distributors, retailers, and dealing with
manufactures. I also like, or actually was shocked, as to just how small our magic market is for any
product.
So while I'm not thinking of inventing and selling a product today, I know that if
I decide to this book has taught me a great deal about the whole process. More than just talk like I
know what I'm talking about I think I do know some real core information about how the process works
and could talk with various levels with confidence.
I also appreciated the broad view of
the magic community and manufacturing process (not just penguin being pumped up). It felt unbiased –
even though it's from a guy who set penguin up.
Only one question was left unanswered, who
originally stiffed Maxwell and Acar and inspired them to do it themselves... BIG mistake, HUGE
mistake!

This is a fantastic resource. Maxwell leaves no stone unturned and really spills the beans on
everything he knows and has learnt the hard way. He shares the good, the bad and the ugly and talks
openly about his mistakes as well as his success stories.
On top of that he also gives
you a complete directory of trade contacts too, which is invaluable for anyone wanting to create and
sell their magic ideas.
The book is unbiased. It would have been easy for him to write a
book that just recommended you bought your ideas to Penguin, but he hasn't done that. Every form of
bringing a magic product to market is discussed from outright sale of the idea, royalty deals and
self publishing.
His writing style makes it easy and enjoyable to read.
This
information is worth far more than the $39.95 price tag.
Does what he reveals work? Well
after reading this book I've just done a deal for one of my ideas which will be put out by a magic
dealer as a Blackpool release 2014 - so yes!

Maxwell's book is going to save anyone who reads it and wants to put out a product thousands of
dollars. If you are a business person (and those who put out product are) it would be a horrible
decision not to buy this. Enough said.

This book was jam-packed with extremely valuable and practical content. Every page is filled with
priceless information about the magic industry, and Maxwell explains every step you need to take in
order to bring your magic idea to the market.
If you have even the slightest interest or
curiosity about potentially marketing a magic item, I highly recommend picking up this book.

I never knew how the industry worked. I've had some ideas for tricks and am glad I have this book if
I ever want to bring them to market!
If you create to release, you NEED this information!

This book is a treasure trove of information about all aspects of bringing magic to market. It is
well written and a great read...very hard to put down.
"Marketing Magic" is THE major
go-to source of information for anyone who wants to bring an effect to market. The whos, whys and
hows of magic manufacturers, dealers, inventors, distributors, basically the whole magic supply
chain are thoroughly explained. The pros and cons of advertising and other strategies are well
presented and thoughtfully reviewed.
Mr. Murphy truly reveals all he has learned about the
magic business and provides invaluable contact information as well as nuances of human interaction
and magician-magician interaction that should help bring about a more peaceable magic kingdom and
better magic for all. He even quite forthrightly provides some negative examples from his
experience that cost him, but that we can profit from.
This is a must read book for anyone
thinking about trying to market an effect, but also a great read for the rest of us out here
wondering how the magic happens.
Thank you Mr. Murphy for this great contribution to
modern magic marketing. This book is worth the full price and more. Hope you are enjoying Phnom
Penh!
