Review: Toibox Card To Box System
This an 80 minute video tutorial by Jonathan Kamm (
Chicago Land area entertainer ). Included in the comprehensive download are 2 complete LIVE
performances of Jonathan performing Toibox routines.
Jonathan Kamm, one the world's top
sleight of hand artists, has created a deadly utility device with his "Toibox". Amazingly, the small
"Altoid" type mint box is un-gimmicked. This means for card magic, ANY brand or color deck can be
used and if the situation arose, the deck could be borrowed ( that can happen frequently if you're a
hobbyist or at a club meeting/convention ).
Toibox rings all the bells for what makes
great magic. It's simple, direct and the audience reactions are those that you see on TV ( minus
the stooges ). It's the perfect prop for Professionals working restaurant/banquet/strolling, where
pocket management is almost as important as effect. The small mint box is easily carried in pants,
jacket or shirt pocket or a vest outer pocket.
Toibox isn't not just for the Pro's and
will have great appeal to hobbyists as well. Because they perform mainly for friends, family,
co-workers, etc. they may have to put a strong emphasis on their magic being organic ( no odd
looking props that will attract undesirable heat ). They may also want to start and finish clean,
with everything examinable.
That criteria can eliminate a good deal of great magic for
the hobbyist as friends and family often want to examine things when they get fooled badly. If they
aren't allowed to, they can be dismissive of the performer's talent and can give the props all the
credit. Because Toibox is fully examinable, it passes all those criteria wth flying colors!
Jonathan teaches a Toibox routine called "Reverse" which will appeal to both Pro's and
Hobbyists. It's a powerful routine, yet does not use the Mercury fold and the spectator can remove
their SIGNED card themselves from the box. It's a reputation maker!
Unlike a gimmicked
prop that is dedicated for s specific item ( card, bill, folded paper, etc. ) Topibox is actually a
utility device and it's applications can be as varied as your imagination allows ( a hint to
mentalists ). Any small item(s) that can fit in the box ( mints, folded cards, bills, dice,
billets, pocket change, etc. ) can appear, vanish, teleport and transpose. Jonathan teaches several
applications.

been hailed by Professionals world-wide as groundbreaking ).

In a magic world where the term "worker" is thrown around non-stop, this release could get lost in
that noise. Don't let that happen. You're not paying for a "toy" with this purchase. You're paying
for smarts -- time-tested, real-world-performed, in-the-trenches, smarts. He has taken an effect
where most have limited their thinking to a single aspect -- the shuttle pass dump -- and expanded
it to an entire system of clever moves and convincers. It's beyond good.
This is a worker
of workers. Beginner to intermediate skills required, nothing too taxing. Just so, so smart. And
not, "LOOK! A clever method" smart. These are clever methods that form together for impact.
If you like your strolling magic lean (it's a MINI-altoids box), clean (NO gimmicks) and mean
(this will HURT spectators' minds), get this.

I purchased Toibox as a result of seeing a lot of Johnathan's work on Youtube. I was not sure what
to expect as the trailer doesn't show a full performance of the trick but I guessed that it would be
workable.
I was correct.
Johnathon has clearly worked this effect hundreds of
times and this is clear in the live performance videos. The numerous amounts of card to box options
out there in the magic community is vast so why do we need this one? My main answer is because it is
very practical and totally ungimmicked.
Johnathon goes through his handling of the tin as
well as multiple ideas of loading the tin, many of which are incredibly deceptive. My favourite move
is the lid slide load. The tin and your hands are shown clearly empty. The tin is given to the
spectator to hold in their hands. A card is selected, vanishes and appears inside the tin in the
spectators hands!
A clear and detailed looked at the mercury card fold is included as well
as Johnathan's own personally tips on how to do it more effectively. There is also a fantastic
effect which ends with a spectators card being found folded up in the mint tin which does not use
the mercury card fold.
The instructions have no fancy editing but this doesn't matter as
all moves are explained in detail and very clearly.
Can't wait to try this out. Just need
to buy some mints now :) Great Job Jonathan Kamm. Highly recommended.

I have this and it is excellent. Jonathan's thinking is precise and the work has clearly been tested
through years of real-world use.
I am not averse to gimmicks and fakes where needed, but
Jon's gimmickless take on the Card to Box plot will allow those of us who prefer sleight of hand to
have a more organic, flexible and versatile routine.
The techniques taught are well within
the reach of the intermediate magician, and the explanations are clear and thorough.
While
he does provide two very good routines, the videos teach a variety of sleights and subtleties that
open up numerous variations to allow for your own creativity.
The principles and sleights
work for cards, bills, billets, and similar small objects.
If you're a fan of the "Unique
Object to Impossible Location" plot, as I am, you'll find a great deal to like here.
I've
already begun working on my routine, and plan to test it later this month at a large corporate
event. I'll report back after that.

Whenever a new gimmicked card to box hits the market, we all ask the same thing.
Is it a fooler?
Can it be examined after? Before?
Instant reset?
Any brand of card?
Does it look
like an ordinary object?
This thing tics all those boxes and more. One of the MOST
attractive is that should the box be lost, you can pick up another one at 7-11 for about 2 bucks!

How many card-to-box or card-to-impossible-location tricks are there? There are many for good
reason. They play well and appear as real miracles. "Toibox" is a method and routine that allows for
a magic miracle to occur with an ordinary, ungimmiched, box.
This is exactly what I was
looking for in my walk-around performances. The routine, in three phases, allows for variety in
performance based upon time allowed or personal preference. I love it!!!

is not a self-working system. This will require practice. -- If you are willing to put in the
practice time, and perfect the routine, it will pay huge dividends for you. -- Buy it now.

Since Jonathan is a friend, I really wanted to like this. Since Jonathan and I often perform in the
same geographic areas, I didn't want to like this. I didn't want to like it, then perform it, and
run the risk of someone saying they had seen it before. Well, that is going to be a risk I'm
willing to take, because I love this. The effect is straightforward....uncluttered....ridiculously
strong. Jonathan's explanations are thorough and easy to follow. He offers several variations of
routining for us to choose.
If you want an un-gimmicked, "impossible location" effect that
your audience will completely enjoy, BUY THIS NOW!!!

Wow! I was fortunate enough to have bought the original write up on this years ago. Been using the
original ideas and concepts ever since. This download has definitely taken whats possible with card
to box to a whole new level. There are so many cool new moves, routines, and ideas in here im very
surprised it is only 20 bucks.
This is a professionally shot download. Very high quality
teaching and attention to detail is what makes this worth every penny. No more buying these card to
box, tins, containers, etc and worrying about them getting lost or damaged. And god knows you
wouldnt want a spectator grabbing your gimmicked container. With this system, you can perform this
even if you leave the house empty handed. Go to the store and buy a pack of cards and some mints
and your ready to go. There is nothing to construct or damage. Everything is laid out for you to
start performing miracles.
Im telling you, this will be the download of the year if your
a true worker. Jonathan has nailed this one and even the pros are raving about it. Your loss if
you dont pick this up.

I have always done card to box. I decided to buy Toibox card to box System and I am so glad I did.
My card to box routine is more than just having a signed card end up in a box. I now can produce a
final load as a kicker which makes my routine go from good to OMG. Thanks Jonathan for this great
