Mr. Gea is clearly a very tallented magician but it's hard to follow these DVDs. They're partially in English, but watching magic and reading subtitles turns out to be quite difficult. I would have liked to see a voice-over track. Some of the tricks also do not translate well-- specifically, ones like the spelling trick will need to be reworked if you want to do it in English. The tricks are also quite lenghty-- best for competition type of scenarios. The material is probably geared to the intermediate to advanced worker-- there is almost no explanation of HOW to do any of the moves, which is a pitty since he probably could give us good tips on his technique. Explanations are mainly his review of the sequence of the moves.

I had never heard of Gea until recently. Let me make a point. Just one of his moves, which he credits, puts all things similar to the Hang Ching... and similar pitch moves in the dust. His move is like a literally magical way to move a coin from one hand to the other without being seen, and never having them come close to each other. His magic is so well planned that I cannot be without anything he produces. Don't let what anyone else says dissuade you. This stuff will take some work, but is radical and superb, and few magi will be in the know. If you are willing to work through the video, you will be rewarded with priceless, radical, and incredibly practical effects. Prepare to be overwhelmed!

I bought this in the open box for a phenomenal price without knowing anything about this gentleman, and there is so much close-up magic here it will take months to digest. It's not for beginners, but any serious aspirant should be able to absorb much of this with diligent practice.
The first DVD breaks down his 35 min. long live act, and it's a tour-de-force. One routine seems to combine every method to reveal a chosen card in a comedic fashion that magicians will get a kick from. You may recognize the moves he's doing, but he combines them in unique ways, framed with engaging stories. His Spelling Deck is particularly strong.
The second DVD highlights his coin work, and it's very good. More coin work continues in the third DVD, and into the fourth. There's some Matrix variations, and Coins to/through Glass. His "Essence" routines revolve around Copper to Silver coins,several with a Okito box. Some tricks are bits that cry for a routine to link them together. You won't use everything, and parts didn't appeal to me, but there was much to like and be inspired by.
Over two hours of the set is a long interview w/ Miguel about his life and influences. The "Things I Can't Say in English" chapters articulate in Spanish Miguel's theory and methodology behind his tricks. Miguel slips into a whimsical, child-like character in performance (perhaps derived from his mentor Juan Tamariz) that may seem a little disarming, but it's clear he's very serious about his art. His presentation of is more important than the mechanics, yet the mechanics are highly refined.
Yes, an English overdub would have been a nice option (hence chapters of "Things I Can't Say in English") but you get used to the subtitles after a while. The production values are high, a quality package all around. This is, essentially, a tribute to a man's life work.
Is it worth $150? Probably, IF you MASTER what's taught and USE the material. 4.5

In the DVD, Miguel may speak in English from time to time but a majority of your understanding will come by following the subtitles. As an open box deal, the material on the DVD's is amazing. A few card effects are impromptu but one effect in particular, "Aparicio kings," requires certain materials that may cost a little to obtain. Nonetheless, if you can get the handling down for effects like those, they can be mind blowing. His card work is great but his handling of coins is what really makes the DVD worth the money. You get an amazing variety of magic throughout all four discs.

This is an excellent set with an incredible amount of value.

The moves are mostly intermediate but the showmanship and handling are top professional.

Enough material and fun to last years, I never thought of doing coin magic until I saw this. The professional card routines were also inspiring.

This is an amazing and useful collection. I find it better explained when he speaks in Spanish, when he tries to speak English his explanations are sometimes hard to follow. I actually like when he just mentions the moves he uses instead of explaining them, those are usually well known slights. Highly recommended.
