WHAT IT IS

P.O.V. is a cleverly gimmicked sticky pad that allow the performer to instantly peek at any drawing, number or word.
The secret is as good as the effects itself.

WHY WE LOVE IT

With most peeks the written information is illogically placed into a wallet/holder "to keep it safe".
With P.O.V. the spectator writes and immediately after he keeps the very same paper.
The reactions we got with POV are among the best.

ALL ACTIONS ARE MOTIVATED

The magician secretly knows the information in a heartbeat with all actions being motivated and justified, leaving the spectators clueless.

With POV are explained 6 different handlings and 4 EFFECTS IN DETAIL, which are:

DIRECT THOUGHT

In this effect the spectator is asked to write down any number between 1 and 1000. The magician TOUCHES the spectator forehead and instantly reveals the prediction. This is the performance mostly seen in the main trailer and the reactions speak by itself.

MIRROR ROUTINE

Perform a classic effect without the use of expensive electronics!
A spectator is asked to "mirror" the magician actions. After an introductory "ritual" the spectator is asked to draw anything while the magician does the same, at the same time.
To everyone surprised both drawings match!
A classic of magic that finally fits in your pocket!

DRAWING DUPLICATION

This is João favorite effect from the whole project!
The spectator is asked to draw anything in a post it. The magician grabs another pad and a marker and says that he will try to guess what the spectator drew.
For the spectator surprise the magician failed!
The magician removes the post it with the incorrect prediction, crumples it into a little ball and places it inside a wine glass, which is twirled by the magician as a "magical move to make the magic happen"!
When the spectator now opens the crumpled paper, he finds out that the magician incorrect drawing magically transformed into the spectator drawing!

CARD TRICK KICKER

In Card Trick Kicker the spectator thinks of a number between 1 and 6 and writes it in the P.O.V pad. He then removes 6 cards from the deck, shuffles them and remembers the card that is in his thought-out number (number he wrote on the pad).
The spectator then places the cards face up, one by one, in the deck. The magician squares up the deck and spreads them on the table, to reveal all the indifferent cards are now face down, except the spectator's chosen card!
To end off with a kicker, the magician turns the chosen card to reveal a post-it sticked to it, with the spectator's initial thought-of number written in it!

I have never encountered more of a complete waste of money than this cheap, nasty device. The peeks and handling for this thing are laughable and there’s barely enough writing space for anything meaningful. Utterly useless and a waste of money. Buyer beware!!!!!

Amazing, Clever Report this review

Very ingenious however, once the spectator removes their sticky sheet, the pad will show an unusual mark on its surface. This is not a defect but, rather, standard for this device.
Without that blemish, this would be a 5-star effect.

The secret of this trick comes from your handling, and you are given five different ways of performing the peek (of course, you'll come up with a few as you do it). You can leave the pad in the spectator's hands to write their number, or you can hold it like they do in the video. It is such a small prop with huge potential.

Yes, the size of the pad makes it a little limiting on what they can write, but it also makes sure you only need a moment to know what they wrote. While you can do drawings, I imagine most people will go with numbers or short words.

I hope they come out with this in a larger size to give you more options. There's really no reason I can see that they wouldn't be able to as the method works regardless of size. The refills needed are very inexpensive to acquire and you can have enough for a hundred performances for less than ten dollars.

For the pocket space this takes up (plus the needed refills), you'll have a lot of magic in your hands.

Best peek device yet. Report this review

I have a number of peek wallets and methods. This is far better than any peek wallet I have or have heard about.

Putting a card or paper into your wallet is suspicious. Why do this suspicious behavior? This eliminates it completely. It is completely natural. It is the Holy Grail of peek wallets.

The only negative I can think of is the gimmick is not quite the same shade of yellow as the Post-It. I don't think this is a big issue, but wanted to mention it.

Just My "Point of View" Report this review

Pros:
** Creative gimmick and method extraordinarily simple and non-conspicuous and handling is totally natural and justified
** Trailer emphasizes stand up routines, but many handling variations are available for sit down/table routines as well (which I use, even came up with another one!).
** Eliminates most, but not all of the ambient lighting issues of similar methods.
** Training videos were very well done, offering multiple alternative methods and presentations.
** No custom refills, uses regular Post-its.

Cons:
** Performer is constrained to use the smallest of Post-it notes; very little space for spectators to draw shapes; numbers and letters almost only choice (e.g., business cards are 2.25 times the space and the most used size of Post-it notes are the ubiquitous 3X3 inches, or 9 square inches vs. 3 square inches of the gimmick).

While I am sure it is most likely possible for the creators to adapt the technique to the larger size Post-it, the method would suffer a bit and offer the performer decreased degrees of freedom to make it work like the original.

** Like some other reviewers, I found that the color of the gimmick (at least mine) had a green hue to it, less yellowy than a PI note. And there was some discoloration as well that could not be cleaned with alcohol as the creators suggested.

Bottom line, will this product replace your favorite similar method....probably not, but its portability, simplicity and audience impact for me can make it an everyday carry.

Received today, watched videos & was able to perform immediately. FYI - Instructions tell you to go to 1 web address, but couldn’t find the instructions. I went to https://joaomiranda.com/ & was able to find instructions. Just enter password provided & you are good to go.
The video instructions are broken into short segments so you don’t have to watch a longer video if searching for 1 specific portion. I had no issues understanding the speaker on instructions.
Video provides some good tips on sharpie use & cleaning. Overall good instructions I thought.
The size of the post it pad is 1.5”x 2”, so limited to 2-3 characters or small drawing spectator enters, but in the words of my wife, “How did you do that?” Its a great trick.

Great utility Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on November 12th, 2022
I have several peek utilities (wallets, etc), but this is among the best because few will suspect it is anything other than a pad of post-its. They can even hold it in their hands. Unlike a couple of the other reviews, I had no problem with the coloration of the pad. I do agree you have to make sure you have practiced in low light conditions. Also, using a tiny pad rather than full-sized post-its is not a liability for me. It makes more sense that you would carry a tiny pad with you rather than a bigger pad and the move is far more easily accomplished with this size rather than the larger size. It works smoothly and consistently but you do have to practice the peeks. I'd say if what you saw on the video looks like something you would do, then get it. It's well made and should last you for a long time.

Not so great Report this review

Ok the idea is pretty clever, but the device just doesn't look like the real thing. It's plastic, hard and the weight is not right. Not saying it can't work, but to me it seems like a 50/50 chance.

Fooled a few people with this one! Report this review

The gimmick is clever and hides in plain sight with the POV Pad. I only do magic because I have kids and I teach middle school and they are my main audience- so I am no expert magician. And speaking of my students and my kids at home, I fooled them all- and the only person who ever discovered the gimmick were my kids because they don't know how to follow directions and instead of writing on the pad properly, they began fighting over it and in doing so, they exposed the gimmick. This was only after they asked me to try it again several times when they finally exposed the gimmick after they were mishandling it. Before that, they were definitely fooled at least 5 times.

Also, no one can stand directly behind you, so the trick is angle sensitive, but you can have a wide angle if the audience are all in front of you.

Great trick. It works.

Simple idea, and relatively inconspicuous. Takes a little practice in order to be smooth with it. Overall, really fun peek and effect.
