Mirage deck is a Svengali deck on steroids. Imagine what you can do with a Svengali deck that can be spread to show every card different, a svengali deck that can be shuffled by the spectator, and a deck that allows you to do a form of "card to any number" effect. I have a whole three phrase routine using this deck as part of my professional walk around repertoire. It is a very versatile deck and for this price, it is hard not to buy it. It is underpriced for how versatile this deck is. If anyone is familiar with celebrity magician, Lui Chien, from Taiwan, you will actually notice that quite a number of his TV performance make use of this deck. He just gives it a new approach each time and it becomes a killer effect every time round. Think of a Svengali on steriods that can do the things stated above, and you have got yourself one of the most useful decks out there in the market - yet selling at an unbelievable cheap price.

I had been using a Svengali deck as part of a routine. The Mirage deck- it turns out- can accomplish the same thing, while being shown in a much cleaner and more fair manner. Why didn’t I hear of these... are these decks as well known/ am I just an idiot?

When I first got the mirage deck, I thought they were TOO roughed, TOO short, and just no good. But after a few hours of handling, the edges got smoother, the roughing loosened, and over time with use on family and friends, no one notices the cuts (especially since most sven/mirage routines do not require you to hand out the card/s). What I love about this deck is the ability to show the deck too, not just riffle through (like a regular sven deck). This deck is great!

PERFECT card force. Imagine spreading the deck showing every card different. The spectator touches the back of the card, and takes it. You then know EXACTLY what card it is! Imagine the possibilities! Mentalism, Mind Reading, Svengali routines, convincing Ambitious Card routines, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I do a lot of card magic with a normal deck. In fact, I’ve bought many “trick decks” over the last 40 years, and I love to play with them, but I practically never perform with them. I think a lot of spectators are familiar with the Svengali deck, so I never use one. But the Mirage deck is a cleverly revised version of the Svengali Deck, that hides in plain sight.

Personally, I think the part of the trick where the magician riffles through the deck to show that all the cards have “magically” become one card is what ruins the trick and shows that it’s a trick deck. I never do that.

Instead, I use the Mirage to force a card or do a no-sleights ambitious card. It’s great because you can spread the cards to “show they are all different” at every phase of the trick. I now end with a phase inspired by Nathan Kranzo’s hilarious Repetition and it gets amazing reactions.

Another cool thing is, you can mix Mirage decks half and half, so the top half forces one card and the bottom half forces another. Cut the top 1/4 to the bottom and riffle, asking the participant to stop somewhere in the middle, then cut the deck in half and use it to force the second selection.

I think the strongest use of this deck for me is just to force a card, spread the deck to show “the cards are all different and you could have chosen any other card”, put the cards all back in the box and proceed to do a fake lie detection or “read their mind”.

I’ve got three of these decks and plan to get a bunch more. That way I can do the ambitious card with different selections.

This is one of the best values in card magic. I highly recommend the Mirage Deck.

I have used these for years and have never gotten caught using a gimmicked deck. Do a simple deck switch after using a normal deck for a few and then do this as a final illusion. My deck was getting worn and needed replacing. The bad thing is that you cant request a force card or know what is in the pack. I ordered several pairs of these and have gotten lucky with 3 of the 4 being different cards so you can mix it up if your with a usual crowd.

Think "svengali" and "invisible" had a baby. If you're already doing Svengali routines, this deck will up your game. Do full spreads in front of your spectators without revealing your force.

I think the idea and method behind this deck is great. However, I was disappointed in the quality. A corner rounder could have fixed this. For the price, I suppose it's okay. I just expected a higher quality from penguin for something that was pre-made. I already knew how the gimmick worked. The price isn't too bad, but I feel I could have made a better product myself. I don't like handing out the forced card because I feel it's suspect due to poor manufacturing methods. Again, I like the effect, just wish the quality was better.
