Jason Borne is a great coin worker, but for all you beginners out there, you're definitely gonna find it VERY hard to manage at least one of his coin tricks (there are one or two particular moves which are essential to most of his routines (which, by the way, are by no means radically different to each other) and are particularly hard and angley...VERY ANGLEY.

For the advanced pro coin workers out there, it is likely that you may know all of the stuff he does with coins (if you recognise it on the demo, then you can bet you're not gonna learn anything new).

As for cards, I was disappointed. So many gaffs...if you don't mind setting up a trick before you show someone, fine. But honestly, are you really going to be bothered to do that all the time for mediocre effects? I mean I just got bored watching them. Lets face it, the more gaffs you need to carry on you and the more time you need to set up a trick BEFORE HAND, the less chance you're ever gonna want to show the trick to anybody (especially when you're not even gonna get good reactions anyway). You have to replace and arrange things bla bla bla...it just bores me to death.

Please, if you want a real kick and fantastic reactions from quick and easy to set up coin tricks that you can keep in your wallet, stick to the full proof and easy coin effects like scotch and soda, coin thru bottle (folding half dollar), flipper coin and expanded shell coin, buddha magnetic okito box, pena coin, the closer, greg wilson's coin tricks from On The Spot, killer key, maybe even the coin matrix etc.

If you want some great card effects which involve only a bit of skill (and maybe only a super fast set up that you can do right under the spectator's nose and some gaffs which you don't need to 'sneek' around the deck all the time) which give the audience and you a feel good factor, then I suggest making some routines combined with some other sleights that you may get from Renegade, Card Stunts, Club sandwich, Bigger Finish, Queens Out of Control, some card effects from Front Row (jay sankey), hip pocket mullica etc.

Actually for cards I only learn the sleights from card routines and make my own impromptu routine out of them. Be creative and don't buy this dvd!

OK... no new ground Report this review

Well I give it a thumbs up (very rare for a Magic Stealers... oops, magic makers product). However, there is very little "cutting edge" about any of it... the pick a nip... just a standard Card On Tie revamped for people w/ piercings.
Not one of the flourishes were innovative...
The coin stuff was certainly not theirs or too creative. And of the card stuff, the sandwich effects were the best of the set. Whole set should've been 2 DVDs or the 3 DVDs should have been more in-depth... but hey, it's a Magic Makers Item... what can you expect?
So why 3 stars instead of 1 since this is kind of a negative review. 3 stars cuz the material's good.. just not cutting edge OR original.... but if you're into supporting MM and their unethical standars, then it's worth a look.
For better 3-fly routining, see the R. Paul Wilson videos. For really cutting edge stuff, check out the Daniel Garcia DVDs.
That's my 3 cents.

Great effects but... Report this review

These are powerhouse effects but they either require stuff you dont have or they are to personal.

I have a feeling that I will go back to this dvd in the future to take advantage of its effects but for now I will just have to settle for the excellent jam session, a section every DVD should have.

A waste Report this review

I got this as a bonus, but I still feel I wasted my money. I should of chose another bonus. Every trick requires gimmicks and the dvd was boring.

This DVD set is great. Jason and John explain a lot of really great magic. I was more interested in the coin work than the card stuff. I was a little bummed out at first with the coin work. Nothing really ground breaking. I think my favorite is transkneecation. The card work is awesome (except for pik-a-nip) and there is one effect that any guy with a girlfriend needs to be able to perform

This DVD set is really good. The card magic dvd was good, but most effects required double backers or other gimmicks. The coin magic dvd was really good also, but you should pick up a coulple shells if you don't have any. Last, the flourishes were pretty good, but they were taught a little too fast. I would have given this set five stars, but most of the effects require gimmicks or set ups, so if you don't really mind that, then go for it!

I really enjoyed these dvds. There is alot to take in. I'm not a coin guy but I did appreciate all the ideas and effects that were shown. I liked the card stuff the most. I already know which tricks are going into my rep.
Thank you Jason and John

When I bought this DVD, I was kinda skeptical. I'm picky when it comes to DVDs. they have sum great tricks with coins and cards. It lost one star because the angles they have aren't the best.

Very nice product. I am very picky with magic effects, and this DVD has great material. Only downside is you will need to pick up some things inorder to perform all the effects. Very well taught, nice job, Jason and John.
