The method itself is probably worth 2.5 to 3.5 stars (an no way it can be done impromptu unless done
with only two boxes/cups/caps/etc because it requires a set up for having more than two) but I'm
giving the whole product only one start mainly because the advertising video was clearly edited to
deliberately mislead the costumers, who in this case are not innocent spectators but fellow
magicians, in order to cheat them out of their honest money! And because the whole thing is way
overpriced.
In the video when you see the first phase of the routine where he finds the
ring between the two boxes I'd bet most people won't be impressed and can have a pretty good guess
how he does it. But WHAT SELLS this trick in my opinion is the second phase of the routine on the
video (starting min 2:09) where he has eight boxes on the table and supposedly tells his spectator
to "place the ring in any box" she wants. That part of the video has been carefully edited to
falsely and deliberately mislead the costumer in to believing that the spectator can freely place
the object in any of the eight boxes on the table. That is simply NOT TRUE.
I don't want
to give the method away but you do not start by giving the audience the free choice of placing the
object in any of the eight boxes on the table as is NOT SUGGESTED but rather SHOWN on the trailer.
Yes, the spectator will end up mixing eight boxes but will not be given the option of putting the
ring in any of the eight boxes initially. I think if he had shown a full demonstration of his act
without deliberate misleading edit many even novice magicians would easily guess the method.
Neither the gimmick nor the tutorial nor both combined are worth the price asked for this
product. This should at best be a direct download and worth at most $10-15 depending on how
generous one wants to be.
I agree completely with your review, the video shown is misleading and dishonest and he never shows what he does if he doesn't get which box the ring is in the first time. I'm still pissed about how much I paid for this, I guess if something sounds to good to be true , it probably is......
Both of these comments are totally NOT TRUE! What are you 12-year-olds?
Menny has discovered/invented a BRAND NEW principle in magic that is supported by Phil Goldstein (Max Maven) and other prominent and experienced magicians specializing in mentalism.
I bought the trick....It is 100% true that the video is misleading. I think it's still a decent effect, but I do feel I was somewhat "tricked" into buying it.
shmoolonzo must have a vested interest in this trick, as he seems to jump all over the negative reviews. Try keeping your personal attacks out of it, jack-hole. oops..
Yeah, well it seams everyone else is saying that they can't put the ring in any of the boxes, besides shmoolonzo, which was the opposite of what was suggested in the video. Now I'm pretty sure I now have a good idea of the method. I definitely think shmoolonzo is saying some BS to try to defend the integrity of the trick to keep people buying it. shmoolonzo is probably Menny with a fake account lol
