I am a full time working magician. I perform 20 shows a weekend as owner of the Bisbee Seance Room.
I put mint box in my show after watching the tutorial video. It made it through 18 shows before
breaking. Love the effect, reluctant to buy a new one at $60.
20 shows per weekend and you won't buy another at 60$?
Maybe you didn't do the math, FaresA, but that means he'd spend $60 every weekend for a replacement. I don't think that is wise, and a gimmick for $60 should last more than 18 performances. You really disagree with that? Are you rich, or something??
I believe FaresA did the math, which is precisely his point! If this person is truly doing 20 shows per weekend as he claims for say at least 10 people and only charging $10 per person as an example, that means he’s complaining about spending $60 even though he’s earning $1,800 minimum. For a working professional, $60 is nothing. The more valid argument is that $60 is too much for a hobbyist if they can only perform it 18x without generating revenue in the process. Of course we don’t know how rough they were in handling the gimmick. A more careful performer may get far greater usage out of this strong prop.
That $60 is only for one of his tricks. What if all of them are like that one? He'd be broke on no time. You aren't considering that it likely isn't his only expense. Why would you even think about adding a $60 expense into your act (for one single basic trick!) each weekend that can be accomplished with many other free methods? You have got to be high on blunts lit with $20s (inheritance?), or maybe still living with your parents to afford that, I'm guessing.
Clarity box wont break and is cleaner
gmsmagic1, you're making some real big assumptions there. How do you know those 18 "shows" aren't table hopping? Are they all tipping him $10 per person? I don't think so.
