This is a great concept. The physical design is very attractive and well thought out. The
instructions are clear and concise.
That said, this product doesn't receive 5 stars because
the creators are using a third party app that requires the user to do steps that really should be
automated. Without giving away the secret, the problem with the additional steps is that you have
be looking at it while doing it and, at the time, be distracting the audience with patter or
something else. If the author created their own app for this routine, they could automate this
portion of the process, making the product *significantly* better. They could also simplify the
user interface, making it fewer steps during the performance overall. As-is, I would prefer the use
of an assistant because the steps in the app are kludge. Yes, I get that practice will make it look
less kludge; my point is that I would pay for an app that did the work for me because me going
through those steps in the app detract from the performance and those steps could be eliminated with
a better app.
One physical aspect of the design (again, without giving away the secret)
could be made much more user-friendly. Instead, it requires the user to unscrew and screw things
during preparation, and you'll probably want to do that before every show.
Also, the
product will make sounds at a particular point in the performance. On a stage with music, this
won't be a problem, but this certainly wouldn't work in a quiet room for parlor magic. Most people
will be able to guess the secret based purely on the sound it makes.
