I purchased this because of a previous routine of Larry's, "The Friendship Game." As a new magician,
I appreciate that you do not need special card handling skills for his routines. What I like most is
how he turns each routine into a story which allows you to connect with the audience. The riffle
shuffle he adds here makes it even more amazing. Finally, his instruction video is very through and
his teaching style is excellent. I now have 5 of his routines and recommend Larry's routines highly,
especially for newer magicians.
Yes, it’s odd that the card is lost in the deck, only for the magician to ask the spectator to find and remove it. It’s also a pity that the description of this trick is very misleading. The copy states “The audience then removes a few cards from the deck at random”. No they don’t. The magician asks the spectator to remove his card. There is nothing random about this.
Unfortunately it’s these kind of ‘liberties’ that make me very hesitant about buying, what would otherwise appear to be a lovely routine. One hopes that this is an error and not written to deliberately mislead, but it’s worrying. Have other liberties been taken? For instance, the video shows a nice and crisp routine. It’s relatively short and there’s a spontaneity to it, with the spectator seemingly doing most of the card handling. Is that actually the case? Or, on purchasing, will I find that there’s a whole centre section with the magician doing lots of handling that has been cut from the trailer to make the routine appear more attractive? I’d love a purchaser to comment on this.
