Any time you see an effect that only shows you glimpses of the routine, it could be a bad sign.
Here, it is. Thinking of this as a budget version of "The Gambler", I purchased this effect. I
should have gone with the original.
It's not that this is terrible. The volunteer truly
does have a free choice of the currency used for the bet, but after that it gets a little sketchy.
The blackjack hand chosen to match the photograph is a match in value only, not the exact cards. The
poker chip choice could become so confusing the spectator thinks something is suspicious (there has
to be a better way). The random time they go with doesn't break any new ground.
The thing
that helps this effect a little is the routine itself. It does make sense and is a reasonably
compelling story for them to follow. The overall execution of the effect leaves a bit to be desired.
The price is fair for what you get (you need to supply your own deck of cards and a watch). I think
this would be considered more of an mystery for the spectator rather than a miracle, but there is a
time and place for those as well.
