Let me be fair, this is probably a good effect. And I'm a big big fan of Devin Knight (if that is
his real name) and his teaching. Download his penguin lecture. It's great. So I wanted to get this
for my friends son, who's shown an interest in magic and mentalism. And this seemed like just the
right mix of challenge and impact for a early teenager just starting out. Who better than Devin
Knight to inspire the young and introduce him to something a bit more complex? With all that in
mind I assumed some pride would be taken in the construction of both the props and the corresponding
instructions. While I have no problem with the gimmicked cards, the rest leaves a lot to be
desired. The cork board is cheap. The instructions claim the included envelopes are prepared in
advance as an example to the performer. (they are not). And the instructions are poorly put
together, both literally and literarily. The instructions I received were not even in the correct
numerical order, page 8 jumped to page 12 and back to 10 and over to 16. That could be forgivin if
they weren't so turgid and close to unreadable. There are words missing from sentences and in some
cases sentences just flat out don't make sense. It's also filled with pearls of such as "This
usually always gets a laugh." So it doesn't always get a laugh? Got it. And the pictures are so
useless they may as well me black squares.
With a little more effort this could have
been awesome. Like I say, I have no doubt it's a very powerful effect. But for 80 bucks? Come
on.
