It was such a pleasure to be in the audience during this lecture to hear two of the top mentalists
discuss their craft. To host Dan Harlan's credit, he pretty much got out of the way and let Richard
Osterlind and Bob Cassidy control much of what was happening.
One of my favorite moments in
the lecture was when they were just talking about effects and their variations without performing.
The two shared so many ideas and gave insights into the creative process, and it was truly a
wonderful experience.
How they played off one another was great. In performing Paroptic
Vision, they both demonstrated how an effect can be changed.
Bob demonstrated the
inspiration for his Two Envelope Test (aka The White Dwarf) and how he performs it today.
Richard showed his latest version of Magician vs. Mentalist, and it was incredible.
It
is amazing that these two seasoned pros continue to work on effects to make them even better.
To steal a phrase, this lecture was a thing of terrifying beauty.
