Hi buyers of Penguin Magic. I have been asked to review confetti card for you. Here goes -
The
trick is easy to perform but IMOH it is hard to sell the impact and reveal of what just happened. In
the trailer a card is picked then returned to the deck. You state that the card will
travel/transpose to your pocket. Where upon you reach into your pocket, reveal and show wrong card
with a sprinkle of confetti.
Looking fazed and dejected you tear up the wrong card and throw it
over your shoulders. In an instant the card turns to confetti has you walk away. When people inspect
the card on the ground, it has magically turned into the pieces of the chosen right card. It sounds
good if not great, but unfortunately the actual working and performance doesn't live up to what most
laypeople will experience.
Firstly you have to carry pieces of confetti in one of your pockets,
this could be an issue for most magicians where pocket space/management is an issue. Secondly the
reveal of the right card requires more pocket management in another pocket.
If you don't "point"
the reveal of the right card changing has it hits the ground, people will walk away thinking that
you screwed up and not notice the kicker ending. On a plus side the teaching is great and concise
and you will learn everything that you need to perform this in a matter of minutes. Perfecting a
workable performance will take much longer.
You could use this as a one of trick or a
finale to an overall performance piece at the end of the night. But here in the UK, you wouldn't be
able to perform this walk around due to leaving a mess of cards and confetti all over the floor when
performing.
Also you will need to carry your own refills every time you perform it, due to the
pieces landing anywhere.
I really wanted to like and give a top mark score , but unfortunately
it does have serious working performer issues and pocket management issues for a Pro/Semi Pro
worker. However if you're an hobbyist I mark it upto a 3.5-4 stars bearing in mind the above issues.
