The good:
The gimmick deck stands up very well to scrutiny. I did this to some spectators 4
times and they still couldn't spot any problems.
The reactions really are over the top when you
hit their card and even more so when they cut to it themselves.
The deck will wear out
eventually and I suspect that it will get harder to perform over time. You should be able to get
hundreds, maybe thousands of performances out of this before that happens however.
The
problems:
There is a step left out of the video. You can perform it as the video shows it
however. You just need to know how to handle your outs if you miss. In order to hit 100% you either
need to re-cut or you need to have them cut instead or you have to get them to answer your questions
honestly. People like to try and lie to the magician.
I suspect the best solution lies in
patter and presentation. I'm not convinced the currently presented patter is the best available
because I've had very mixed results using it. This is the only reason I took away 1 star.
I dislike using gimmicked decks. It's just a personal preference. This trick is super fun to
perform though! You'll completely fry audience and magician alike when using this if you hit their
card.
Alternatives:
There is a completely alternative routine the creators have come
up with that can be performed for an audience with this deck. It's fantastic. Unfortunately I'm
almost never performing for more than 6 people at a time.
I believe that magicians will
come up with future presentations that will effectively utilize this deck in other ways and they
will b similarly devastating.
Conclusion:
This deck is very creative and deceptive.
4/5 stars for routine and patter. Not sure how to incorporate it into a routine yet since it may
require a deck change. I love it. I love the reactions. Needs some fine tuning to be perfection.
Great job Wayne and David!
