I do not understand why some people are having a problem with this and rating it low. Lesson 1 gives a great history on magic and lesson 2 gives amazing insight on practicing before performing. This is exactly the way it is laid out in the books.

Right now I have purchased so much awesome magic from Penguin Magic and have a lot to learn and want to be able to perform each magic act without a flaw. Shawn farquhar is one of the worlds best card magicians. Dan Harlan is one of the best "jack of all trades" magicians. That alone makes this worth watching. They discuss history and some great tips on practice, performance etc.... And discuss what will be covered in the upcoming issues. If you want to become a good magician you need to realize it's not always about the tricks. If you can't, stay away from this. It's above your level. But if you really do appreciate that moves don't make you a magician then get this. You won't regret it.

Shawn and Dan a simply amazing in these first 2 lessons. I have loved the original Tarbell volumes and these new videos are a great way to bring these classics into this century. Now don't be swayed or fooled by other reviews, this is not just a video of two guys talking to one another for 40 minutes. This is two of the best minds in magic talking about the history and foundation of our art. The corner store of any magic library are the original Tarbell volumes and I have no doubt that this coming video series will be a cornerstone of future magic video libraries for years to come.

the so-called lessons 1 and 2 are not really 'lessons'. It is more philosophical discussions of magic and this may be valuable to some. I would suggest a different name for the download.

I really thought I would learn a couple of tricks as tasters to the others. But no. No tricks, just 2 men talking. What a waste of time and how misleading is the title!!!! I'm surprised penguin magic agreed to the title. Ok so it's free but even then why waste everyone's time?

There are no Tarbell 1 and 2 just Shawn Farquar and Dan talking, I don't know if it's technical difficulties or something else but for me and a lot of other people there are no lessons
