I use Mental Yarn all the time, and it really gets a great reaction. Kioku has the fantastic concept of divining a life memory and gets an even bigger response because it's more personal. While Mental Yarn has very little talking by the spectator, this has none. Absolutely none. Nothing is spoken. Nothing is written down. The spectator looks at memory choices (and they are good ones) off of four cards, makes her choice, and quietly looks at you. You do a pseudo-cold read and tell her the memory. If you didn't have to use the cards, it would be a miracle. (But we know that real mind reading doesn't exist. Or does it?)

Anyway, having used PowerBall 60 out of my wallet for a long time now, I knew how this was going to work. There is memory work involved--you have to remember 19 things actually--but it's a snap, especially since the mnemonics are so well thought out. After you get that down, it's up to you. If you aren't much of an actor, you'll do well. But if you can do some full-fledged lecture routine loaded with stuff like "memory reinforcement" and "mental transfer," people will think that you really can read minds.

This is going in my wallet with PowerBall 60. Of course, you can't do both before the same spectators because the methods are so similar. But it's great to have two powerful effects to alternate. If you do any sort of pocket or impromptu work, you must have Kioku. It's worth its weight in gold. It's one of the best commercial mentalism things that I own. Packs tiny, plays huge!

The method it uses to figure out the spectator's memory is extremely clever, however the reasoning for the steps the spectators must take are very hard to justify.
This lack of logic makes the effect less magical, hence the 4 stars.

Super Straight to the point. Excellent methodology. Easy to perform. Spectators will never ever see it coming!!
