I bought this from Marc directly (as I live in the UK).
I have ZERO connection with the man.
In truth, I'm utterly baffled by the bad reviews. I received:
- a very good
quality, metallic, extra large, ultra thin coin
- a very good quality gimmick to make the effect
work
- a simple instructional video covering all I needed to learn
After about 30 mins
of solid practice, I could reproduce EXACTLY the appearances and vanishes that you see on the
trailer.
So...why the bad reviews below? Perhaps:
a) there was a batch sent out
which doesn't match the quality of my set (I'm doubtful)
b) customers wanted something 'new and
shiny' (idiots)
c) customers weren't willing to put in the small amount of time and effort to
make something look like real magic (lazy idiots)
I've said my piece.
Buy this.

I was anticipating this, and was not disappointed. The gimmick is very reliable and effective, also
very durable. This allows for super clean productions, and vanishes. Retention vanishes looks
Incredible with this.
My only critique would be that, for the price, I wouldn’t have
minded maybe a slightly better quality coin, and/or an extra coin. That’s not to say that the
quality is bad, just think it could have been more detailed for the price.
Ultimately I
really enjoy this. It works great for me, looks great, and fun to perform/practice. I don’t regret
the purchase, just would have liked the things I mentioned above.
Hope this helps.

The props are visual and as always Marc routines the effect well. it will look amazing with a little
practice. Great for stage and zoom shows.

Right in junk drawer... Really - $45? Coin looks fake in video... Even worse in person... Other
half of Gimmick is something we all have.....you would expect to see this in spencers gag rack for
ten bucks. Stay away!!

After a small amount of practice, this trick was easy to perform, and the coin is very visual both
in size and in performance. The gimmick is smart and well built, as well as simple. Well worth the
money for a seasoned professional whether close up, or stage magic. This trick is made with detail
and precision that only a true magician would appreciate.

Lucid Coin is another winner from Marc.
Super visual and fairly easy once you get the knack for
it, helped by the fact Marc is a very good teacher.
If you plan on performing a misers dream
effect on stage then this is the perfect option, and unlike other versions can be seen in the
biggest of venues.

I saw the previous review after I had ordered the item and I can’t add much to it looks very very
cheap. It will take some practice, but I don’t think the practice is worth it. This one missed the
mark. I thought it looked a little cheap in video but I liked the effect. They could have and should
have done a lot better with this one.

Suits a more theatrical setting, dimly lit so that the shiny coin stands out and so that the method
is better concealed. And performed at a parlor-style distance.
The oversized coin is more
visible, but for a miser’s dream one ideally would have a cascade of coins of the same size. Perhaps
the size discrepancy is immaterial as this appears to be part of his working repertoire.
Coin productions may be ‘mere’ eye candy if not embedded within a longer routine. The Miser’s
Dream does require more spending and more props and gimmicks.
The instruction is good. The
combination of familiar methods is new to me.
The required skill-level is comparatively
low, so the drawbacks listed here and by others need to be regarded as a tradeoff that magicians
often face when choosing between methods to achieve a desired effect.
As a miser, I’m
significantly happier with the purchase via Open Box than I would have been at full price.
- LET THE BUYER BEWARE -
One of the DUMBEST tricks that you will EVER buy.
It consists
of two elements and you ALREADY have that is quite standard the other is cheaply made garbage.
That said, I think that people that enjoy cheaply made crap that will sit in your magic drawer
FOREVER will love the masochistic pain that comes with this purchase.
The video ad is shiny
and gutty AND VERY MISLEADING.
