The b+w back design--a flourish based on the recursive Fibonacci spiral--is moderately handsome but
would look better in a well chosen color. The pips and indices are compressions of fractal patterns
and therefore inevitably have a faint and gracelessly meshy appearance. The court cards could have
been much more attractive in full color rather than here in monochrome. As a student of mathematics
I not only appreciate but am grateful for this deck. However, I can only sympathize that the design
approach does not result in a more successful visual effect. Even so this deck can be enjoyed for
its theory and intentions. I think a card deck is actually an excellent vehicle to present the
golden ratio and hope there will be further attempts to derive something duly beautiful from this
potentially perfect concept.
