The great thing about the set is as you can see there is a load of material Simon goes through. The
teaching isn't too bad, although sometimes it leaves you wanting Simon to go over it again. Simon
can be funny at times, but just going through 1 DVD can get tiresome. Much of the gambling
techniques you most likely won't incorporate into your magic although there are the odd few
techniques you can. Some of the moves leaves you thinking there is no way anyone can be fooled by
that. Overall, Simon is amazing at what he does, but don't expect this DVD to break into the tiniest
detail on every technique he tries to teach you.

There is a lot of material packed into this and you probably won't use it all, but there is still
some stuff that you will use. Simon does a pretty good job explaining how everything works but
sometimes it can be difficult to understand. If that's that case, just rewind and watch again. False
shuffles is probably the thing you'll use from this the most.

The teaching is good, not excellent. Sometimes you wish that he would go over the move one more
time.
The moves themselves are great! I used some of them on my family and they were like "how
the heck did you do that?!"
I got it from the school's out bonus but it's definitely worth the
money!
(I would give it a 4.5 if i could)

You will be disappointed if you think you'll learn a gambling "routine" here. I found value only in
learning a small number of false shuffles and cuts.
This probably would have been better
released as a magic dvd, the "theme" of gambling is pretty non-existent. You learn a few standalone
moves (some which I actually find very clever and valuable).
Best for someone looking for
false cuts and shuffles.
There are better solutions for learning the fundamentals of gambling
cheating (for routines and demonstrations). But, you'll pick a few things up.

Simon Lovell certainly has real facility with cards.
As an intermediate card handler I learned
some valuable handling tips for second dealing, bottom dealing and a couple of nice false shuffles,
as well as solid applications of these moves.
Problems with this DVD include:
- Lovell's
swift explanation of certain moves/ handlings (eg mucking), although most are explained in
reasonable detail
- DVD 3 is an appalling piece of work, being a cobbled together duplication of
many of the moves taught on DVDs 1 and 2, together with Simon's laughable 'gambling museum'.
-
Rob Stiff. What an irritating man.
As a Coolbox purchase, certainly value for money. Otherwise,
perhaps search around for an alternative...

There is a TON of material on these discs, but Simon is very fast when explaining them. If you're
not familiar with basic card sleights I would save this for down the road. I found his presentation
rather dry, and I've seen him live and he's quite entertaining so maybe it's just the studio
setting. This is quite extensive and may prove a worthwhile DVD to add to your collection.

This was another time when Penguin Magic made good in many ways. These 3 DVDs have all the classic
moves and then some. Simon's casual approach to some serious card moves. In spite of having worked
with some of these moves for over decades, I found the DVDs of particular interest and value. Along
with that I found that Simon's presentation of some off-beat moves filled in the spaces nicely
between the classic moves of gambling. Nice job indeed.

I got this as a free bonus and I'm glad I didn't pay for it because even though it is a great DVD
Set I wouldn't see myself paying that much money to get this but the stuff he teaches you is great
if you do a gambling demonstration but overall it's just ok.

I already own Simon's "Tool-Box" collection and pretty much everything here (and a lot more!) are
covered on that great collection but this is also very, very good and great value for money too!
