Boxed and loaded is a set of ideas and routines packed into a $10 download. This really should be a
no brainer for anyone who has $10 to throw at their computer screen, but for those still sitting on
the fence here’s my in depth review
Effect: 9/10
The main effect of this download is
the triple coincidence. This is a beautiful effect that as you can see from the trailer creates a
very unique moment between two spectators then finishes with a kicker ending. Overall I feel that
the structure of this effect is solid and the impact is going to be bananas. That moment when two
spectators are thinking of the same thought and they verbalize it out loud to one another is nothing
short of pure unadulterated wonder. I knock off one point because the ending, having their same
thought of card come out of the box seems almost too impossible to me. But others will disagree with
me on that I’m sure, and honestly I’m probably just overthinking it.
Apart from the main
effect Erik has taken the main sleight in this trick and provided several ideas/tricks to play
around with including: vanishing card, a card transpo, using it as a switch (Brilliant), and even a
very slick business card peek which I will be playing around with immediately.
Difficulty: intermediate
I would classify this as an intermediate effect. The main sleight
isn’t difficult but may seem awkward in the hands of a beginner.
Sleights: 3
There
are essentially 3 sleights in the main routine that will require some practice, practice time will
vary for each magician but for me I’ve found that 2 of the 3 only took a 15 minutes to feel
comfortable and natural. The third has always been a ‘scary’ sleight for me, and I suspect many
other magicians. HOWEVER Erik teaches several variations of it and one stupid simple version that
anyone should be able to perform.
Teaching: 10/10
As always Erik is a great teacher
who breaks down each sleight in a way that makes you feel confident in your ability to learn it.
There is one sleight in this effect that would typically scare away some magicians, but fear not!
Erik has provided a way around that sleight if it’s too scary for you, but after watching his
instruction on the sleights I feel confident in adding the sleight to my repertoire...albeit after
some practice sessions
Production: 10/10
As always Penguin put out a well produced
download, no surprise there.
Price: 10/10
For $10 everything you get feels like a
steal to me.
Overview of download:
Triple coincidence (main effect and teaching)
Vanishing card
Transpo
Card switch
Business card peak
Review and tips on the 2
main sleights used
I highly recommend this to any magician that doesn’t have a triple
coincidence in their set...so basically every magician I know. Enjoy everyone! Thanks Erik for
putting out a great effect!

The value of this trick comes from the brilliant, under-used utility moves it teaches you. So many
applications - especially if you're a mentalist like me. I just wish Erik had gone into more detail
on some of the other moves. I don't do m***te, so I'm not that up to speed on the technique for the
move he mentions. Could have done with a little bit more hand holding on that...but otherwise this
is excellent value and a brilliant trick.

This is such a great effect and so very well taught! None of the moves are complex, but Eric gives
them ample attention throughout the tutorial, nonetheless. And, he teaches several other
tricks/options in addition to the main routine. It is well worth the $10 investment.

Eric Tait is one this generations Stars of Magic and Boxed and Loaded shows why. We know that magic
done in the hand of a spectator is powerful, but when it's done in their minds, you crush them.
Boxed and Loaded does it to two spectators, which ups the power.
Erik credited and got
permision form the brilliant and generous Jay Sankey for a technique that make this possible. You
will perform this stunning piece of magic.

Quick caveat re: my review - I haven't tried it yet, only watched the explanation as I just
purchased. But based on that, Boxed and Loaded is a winner. Well within the reach of even beginning
magicians (with a little practice)I think this one will fry lay people. Well taught and well thought
out. Excited to dive into this one.

This is a great effect and Erik really delivers with the explanation and in the process, teaches a
truly useful but not well known slight. The video is well shot and Erik provides a lot of detail on
subtleties needed to pull off the technique. Going beyond just teaching the slight and its
application to magic, he shows how mentalists could use this technique as well.
I purchased this routine a while ago. I always take time to practice it over and over before I
actually give a review. It's simple, clever, and impromptu routine. Erik tait is a good teacher as
much as he is a host. He goes over everything and any alternative handling for those that want less
sleights.
This is a great deal. You get the trick you see in the demo video, but you also get some bonus
tricks from Erik that use the move you learn for Boxed and Loaded. Really great value here.
Well, it was exactly what I thought, the moves and all.
Sure, there is somethings that Erik
is talking about and there is other similar effects but I don't think think this is worth 10$
Eric does his usual expert job of explaining and demonstrating the effect. Its quite easy to do for
the basic-intermediate performer. Folks will be fooled every time. Its a bargain at this price. Get
this one quick!
