The magician tells the spectator that he (or she) would like to give them his business card. When he discovers that it's his last business card he offers to give the spectator a piece of his card and proceeds to visibly tear off a corner. Magician immediately realizes how stupid it is to give just a piece of his card and magically restores the card to its original condition. He then gives the card to the spectator. Use any business card.

Also includes a torn and restored dollar bill routine.

I see that Doug Bennett's effect uses the same method. I have been using this torn and restored method (for business cards as well as playing cards with a Z-Wallet and torn and restored publicity photos with a leather portfolio since the 1970s. I reached out to Doug Bennett to confirm the timeline of his effect (it looks like it came out in the 80s), but have received no response. The bottom line is: it's an amazing close-up effect.
