Ready? This is a new... revolutionary Sankey product. Ready for it? Brace yourselves..... SANKEY
1999!
Ok, so it's not new. And it isn't revolutionary. I bought it anyway for the sake of
completionism... (If that is a word.) I have to say, this DVD dissapointed me in a few ways.
One thing about it is that Sankey is quite, quite calm and mature during most of this. Kinda
wierd...
Another thing is the camera quality. Oh well, he maned the camera and it was
1999...
Other than that, this had a lot of tricks and ideas that I got a kick out of.
Below I review the highlights, with a scale of one thru ten, ten bieng the best.
Sweet Surprise: A sugar packet transposition. Like we haven't seen these before... Oh well, it
has it's perks. The moves are really easy and more deceptive than the many I have seen. Plus they
are not normally used in such a way. 9.0 just for the sake of it bieng a new handling.
Measles: I can't believe he released this back then and I had never heard of it. I have to say
that the set-up is tiring and annoying, but yeah. It is totally worth it. It reminds me a lot of
Forgery, for those who have TVBO, or Sankey's Greatest Hits... I'll say 9.5 for the effect itself,
but the set-up makes it about a 8.9.
Gag #1: Thruought the DVD, Sankey shares some gags
that he uses during comedy performances. These are just raw jokes. The first... eh... It is O.K. It
is pretty funny, but I didn't get it until I really thought about it. For some this might work, for
some it might not.
Twice as Nice: Great rendition of the classic card which turns over in
the deck. We all know about it. Turn the bottom card face up, someone selects a card and puts it
back in. Take it behind your back, put the card face up and pull it around. There card is the only
one reversed in the deck. Sankey presents an impromptu and really nice handling for this that makes
the effect worthwhile. 9.0.
Extended Credit: A really nice trick that is super convincing.
The method will make you smile. Whether you end up using it or not (I have a few times) you will
still enjoy it. 9.0
Gag #2: Hillarious. I really liked this one! I will definitly use it.
Dark Powers: Oh my god. This is sooo perfect for close up workers. I love it and have not
seen this anywhere else. A rubber band visually penetrates your finger despite a spectator is
holding on to the end. 9.7
Wacky Tabbacky: Although this trick with a cigar is cool, I
will never touch a cigar in my life. For those who do come in contact with them though, they will be
happy to use this. Me: 0 Others who use cigars: 8.5
IQ Test: Easy and poweful. A card is
selected and on which a black dot with a sharpie is drawn. With no funny moves, the black spot turns
into a hole onto which the sharpie is pushed thru. VERY magical. Definitly a new Sankey favorite. (I
have a list of maybe... 10 effects by him that are "Sankey Favorites") 9.8
FaceUp Rubaway
Vanish: For those who use the rubaway vanish, this addition is very good and will enhance the effect
by a lot. This time, done face out. Worth checking out. Since it is just a move however, you can't
really review it with a rating.
Cheesecake...: Well... I almost fell out of my chair
laughing... It makes you really hungry! That is all I can say without revealing. 9.5
Instant Origami: I will be using this. A piece of paper is shoved into your fist where in an
instant, it changes to a piece of beautiful origami. Really, really nice. 9.0
A trick not
listed on the case...: Needless to say, that isn't the name of the trick. It just wasn't on the
case. Two quarters transpose in coin holders. It has a great idea behind it and I will use this
solely for the fact that I collect coins. (Although you don't have to to perform this.) 8.5
BONUS TRICKS! Yes, he included bonuses. 4 bonus tricks. One of which I was really, really
pleased with.
Freshly Squeezed: Quick little transpo effect with a quarter and a washer.
Nice, might use it once. 7.9
Cut and Restrawed: Ok, I have seen this in a whole bunch of
demo videos and I couldn't for the life of me come up with a method! It was sooo magical! The method
is as good as the performance. A lot of thought was put into this, and you will use this. 9.9
Stripped: Nice little gambling demonstration with my favorite card move! Vernon Substitute
Transfer! Yay! 8.5
Firefly: A coin Transpo with one difference. FIRE! Yeah... Won't use
this. 8.0
Overall, this DVD was good. Not great... Not bad. For first time Sankey
buyers, stay away. People who collect might want this. I felt it was worth the money in new tricks I
will use off of this DVD.
I rate the DVD overall an 8.5 out of 10. There were a lot of
coin transpos, some things were hard to see and he was calm and mature... All three of those
dissapointed me but not to say you shouldn't buy it. Look at the tricks and if it seems worth it, go
for it. Even myself, as many Sankey products as I own still found a lot of workable material from
this.

Wow, Jay has done it. This is a very interesting DVD indeed. Its full of different kinds of magic,
with cards, keys, coins, sponge balls, purses, even origami! This is definetly a great buy!

I only gave this 3 stars because 3 of the tricks appear on other DVD's by Jay, and some of the
tricks are kind of lame. However, some are pretty good. I liked 10 out of the 29 tricks on this
DVD. "Measles" is a card trick where the cards get measles. "Splittin Time" is a nice coin trick
where you split one quarter into two and repeat this several times until an empty purse is full of
quarters. "Twice as Nice" a card trick that has a selected card flip over twice in the deck, very
nice. "Extended Credit" a credit card in a pay envelope is broken and restored. "IQ Test" where a
black marker can pass through a black circle you draw on a card (this reminds me of the cartoon the
road runner where he can go through a painted tunnel on the side of a mountain and when the coyote
tries it he can't, and hits the side of the mountain and falls to the ground). "Stripped" a
different type of ambitous card routine where 4 aces appear first face down and then face up...
excellent trick.

I bought this in VHS format from another magic shop, but if I had known it was coming out in DVD I
would of waited.
This is a great DVD and it is perfect for someone just starting out in magic, I
would also recommend the "Amazing tricks anyone can do" series. Anyway I highly recommend this DVD,
it's really really good!!!!

A DVD on close up ideas with different degrees of cooking (some are ready to eat, some are raw).
For me it was more than worth it at that price, I enjoy new ideas and to develop them when
they are still in their infancy, and I also like full grown tricks.
What a totally great deal.
And even if this DVD goes back to full price, it is priceless.
Here Jay gathers some great little ideas and packs them into this DVD.
I've already
incorporated a few ideas into my parlor and kids shows.
Funny and clever.
This IS a
Classic that you will enjoy and use.
Maybe because I'm not fluent in English, I didn't understand a world of what JS says (It seems he's
chewing a gum while speaking).
More, He doesn't present in oerder ! Effect, then explanation.
It's a continuous report : you do that, then you take this, then ...
Well, I WAS a fan for
JS, now I'm thinking about it.
A French consumer, very disapointed
I bought this way back when it came out on vhs. This truly is classic jay sankey. I have gotten
quite a bit of mileage from the material on this dvd. Twice as Nice is incredible and takes and old
classic and gives it a new twist. The Measles deck is brilliant. It was also offered as a stand
alone item at one time so you are getting a real bargain with the dvd. There are also a few little
comedy pieces that are hilarious, sankey humor.
The overall quality of this production was less than desirable. I liked the idea of converting this
VHS tape to DVD. It looks really vintage and gives us a chance to see the stuff that's rarely
performed.
I like how good these tricks were. THe first effect fooled the crap out of me
completely. It's a CRAZY nice sugar packet through the table that can be performed live for a bunch
of people and gives the audience a chance to participate. Some effects require special props or a
little setup, but over all it's VERY practical material. There are even a few effects in here that
were marketed in a few other places, but still great stuff.
I was pleased with this, and
you will be too.
but this a while back from sankey magic...i wasnt very happy with some of the routines, as they are
not as commercial and useable in the real world as i would have liked. however, this is still a
great value in the sense that there are many moves and techniques taught in this DVD that will help
further your magic.
