Here's a few things other reviews should mention.
The $5 to $1 transpo is a great way to
get a reaction. It's essentially Scotch and Soda with bills instead of coins. However, unlike Scotch
and Soda, you have to get that bill back before they inspect it, and you better hope it's sitting
just right when they open their hands. To me any magic trick where you have to snatch things out of
their hands before they can look at it automatically loses points. And that's the trick with the
most selling points.
The rest of the tricks are fairly classic past a certain point, and
basically anyone who's ever watched a "how-to" on magic is going to know what's going on and at best
you just have to hope (or ensure based on skill I suppose) they aren't paying attention to EXTREMELY
obvious things that we're taught to look for first.
So for $25 you're getting one trick
that you have to hope the audience doesn't immediately inspect your prop (like I would), and several
tricks that are honestly just borderline joyless ice breakers because you know where it's going as
soon as you see them start the presentation. If you mark a bill, everyone knows you're going to
vanish it and make it reappear, and this is what I'd call the "cheap ass generic" version of how-to
and the presentation, or maybe "1st grader's intro to magic".
If you're just starting out,
this is as good as any.
If you're like me and prefer a trick where you can just stand
there and let them baffle themselves until they give up, you might find yourself a bit disappointed
with how much you just spent on it.
The fact you're using terms like "snatch" or "inspect" and these are "tricks" and not "effects" I wouldn't blame the material or content. I'd blame poor audience management and spectator control.
And "for $25 you're getting one trick that you have to hope the audience doesn't immediately inspect your prop (like I would)" or "if you're like me and prefer a trick where you can just stand there and let them baffle themselves until they give up" that's not "magic" that's a puzzle that sounds like you do just to make them feel stupid?
And Scotch and Soda is a prop....if you don't think so as it's supposed to only be worth about .60 cents...half dollar and an unused Mexican coin from the 70's...let them keep it...no, I'm sure if they try to walk away or pocket it you'll be trying to "snatch" it yourself.
