My favorite part of the video might be the performances. The performances give you a great sense of
how much humor and personality you can put in to your act. Audience management skills are a plus,
but your ability to joke, cajole, respond, and so on to your audience will go a long way to making
this "your" effect.
I like effects where the performer has the possibility of making an
effect "their own." This is just that sort of thing, as you will be interacting with your audience a
great deal.
A m***** deck is taught, but more of a back up than a necessity.
My
big complaint? I'm primarily a card performer. How many great effects do we learn that rely on
something that requires a performance to be good for only one effect? Signed cards, torn cards, etc.
basically require you to move on to a different effect or a different deck. Same here. This effect
uses a c****** card to get going, and I always feel stuck in just one effect.
Maybe it's
just me, but these sorts of things always stop me cold. It ends up being a prepared deck to some
degree, and you can't then easily move on to your next card effect. (Admittedly, it depends on the
different effects in your arsenal.)
All that said, the video is great, the teaching is spot
on, and the method is solid. If you like what you see, you won't be disappointed. Especially when it
comes to your own ability to put your personality in to a performance.
Hi, Richard:
I have to respectfully disagree with you here. The c*****d card will not impede your ability to do other magic with that deck. In fact, if you learn how to use such a tool effectively, it can be a great utility in a deck.
