After purchasing
the video, the moment I saw the "actual performance" bit of the video, with UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT, I
instantly knew the method without even going to the principles and solutions part.
The demo
video is sooooo misleading.
Not giving away on the actual method, depending on what number
the audience chooses, your following action is so unnatural (and they WILL FIGURE this simple trick
out fairly easily) you need to "hope" the audience chooses a "sweet spot" number.
Don't get
me wrong. I have purchased NUMEROUS tricks from Rick but this is just so misleading and as bad
(almost malicious) as ID7.
I disagree; done correctly no-one will figure out the method. I would call it a mathematical principle (though very little math is performed during the act) that even very smart mathematicians won't figure out due to the subtleties thought in the video. Honestly, I believe you missed something; I don't think you figured it out that quickly yourself. Maybe you had some ideas, but not so that you could explain or perform it. And remember; all the math, numbers and cards talked about in the video are for illustration purposes only; from the perspective of the audience it is super clean. You are, however, free to feel differently :)
There is on serious downside to this trick. The magician must show a certain number of cards. It is very common for a spectator to ask why were more cards shown than I put in the box. Anyone have that answer?
Count out the cards. They ask, “Why so many?”
You say, “So many? How many did I have you choose from?”
They say, “###.”
You say, “Oh! Whoops. I just like counting so much I got carried away.”
...and you can even reference those extras during his subtlety. “Wait, that’s not it. Oh, right! I counted too many again.”
Things are only going to get away from you if you seem flustered by the question. The audience doesn’t know what or why you’re doing anything. Don’t run when you’re not being chased.
