First off, talk with any well-known mentalist, and I can almost guarantee you that at least one
routine in his show is built on principles first published by Phantini.
At the time Mr.
Grant passed away several years ago, I was working with him to put together a "one and done",
comeback lecture. I had contacted magic clubs as far away as a seven hour drive, and already had a
preliminary count of almost 100 people who committed to drive however far was necessary to see
Phantini in person. Mr. Grant was in declining health at the time, but he was excited about the
lecture and was determined to make it a reality. I had re-typeset what he thought were the best of
his routines into a book that would be part of the lecture cost. Unfortunately, his health then
began to decline more rapidly, and soon another of the true masters had left us.
When Mr.
Grant wrote his books, there were not many mentalists for him to draw upon, so most of his material
is refreshingly original. Mr. Osterlind did a masterful job of gleaning these long-lost secrets,
then modernizing them for today's audience. Of the routines included, "The Moving Hand Writes" and
"Micro Krypto" are, by far, my favorite two routines.
Mr. Grant, I still miss you
terribly, but you would be proud of the job that Mr. Osterlind has done with your material!
