I am used to standard Copag 310 decks. I have heard these thick cards are not favoured for
cardistry, which could explain why the new slim-line cards have been made.
I think Copag
310s are fine as they are. Despite being thick, they handle beautifully, with a soft buttery feel,
and they flex well, so are great for double lifts.
I was still interested to try the new
slim version, which is meant to be several cards thinner. And it is. The packet itself is visibly
smaller, otherwise looks the same.
The beautiful texture and feel of the originals has
gone, replaced with ordinary feel. Not a great problem, except the los of the great feel of the
originals. But the problem I had was dribbling the cards, after one face-down dribble, they had
warped. Dribbling face up was difficult.
After a minute's use, I put the deck in the
fridge, and took it out hours later. The cards were then closer to being flat, but after one more
face down dribble they were warped again. Rinse, lather, repeat, every time the same effect.
I have tried buckling the deck hard, but it always ends up bowed the original way.
I
would rank these cards as 1, just good enough for a self-working trick. I give them 2 here as it
could be argued that the thinner cards are better stock, just more volatile, and just don't work in
my climate (oz). But since I have no trouble with the old standard cards here, I can't be more
positive with the review.
My rating is a personal experience only. If you live in a
different climate or get a better copy, they may be fine for you. Would suggest you ignore my
rating, which is arbitrary, and try the deck for yourself... especially if you are used to the
previous model Copags.
