I purchased this and received it yesterday. I thought $75 would be a good price if the set was nice,
but in my opinion it is lacking in more areas than one. Though the markings on the face of the
Chinese coin are the same markings that come on the Charming Chinese Challenge coins, they are NOT a
perfect match as stated in their sales pitch: "You receive a coin set consisting of precession-made
coin gimmicks in a custom-made case. And if you already perform our Charming Chinese Challenge, or
No Sense, you'll be pleased to hear that the Chinese coin perfectly matches the one used in those
effects." Notice in their sales pitch they say the gimmicks are "precession" made instead of
precision made. But, the coins are made in the same manner as the "quality control" of their proof
reading for their advertising. My Charming Chinese Challenge coins are very nicely made with
rounded, gold painted edges. The Chinese coin that came with my Carpenter Coin set has "squared" not
rounded edges and is not gold, but rather dull brass. Other than the printing on the coins, they are
definitely not a "perfect match." The printing on the Carpenter Coin I received has half of one of
the Chinese letters painted in black enamel from when they painted the inner face of the coin. That
is tacky, and very poor quality control. The Mexican Centavo coin that came in my set looks like
they dug it up from the backyard and didn't bother to clean it off before including it in this set.
It is beginning to, and already has some copper oxide rust. That is the green rust that appears on
copper and brass. I probably have 50 or so Mexican Centavos coins, and they all look nice even
though I have had them for years. I think the routine looks good, but if you are thinking you will
be getting a nice set of coins if you buy these, you better hope you don't get the set I am
returning for a refund.
