This is somewhat disappointing.
I've tried this with popcorn salt (very fine ground salt)
as a substitute for real sugar as recommended in the instructions, also micro glass beads , and in
both cases I can't get a smooth pour from this because when the dispenser is turned upright after
pouring the "sugar" into the bag, the salt sticks unevenly to the sides of the gimmick instead of
going down level at the bottom of the dispenser as it would be after pouring sugar from an ordinary
sugar dispenser , so it telegraphs that there is something "tricky" going on with the interior of
the dispenser. (you have to give the sugar dispenser a good shake or two to get the sugar to sift
down so it looks normal in the bottom of the dispenser after the pour). On mine the gimmick looks
like it was glued in slightly off-center so I'm thinking it might work better with a properly
centered gimmick (?) . Seems like there might be quality control issues with this item. It would be
fairly easy to make one , so I'm going to try making my own to be sure the gimmick is centered. But
that's kind of a pain, right ? I already understood the working of this before I purchased it, but
the reason I purchased it was to save me the time and hassle of making the prop.
