I believe the main point of the shell game isn’t so much of an effect as it is a funny and
entertaining demonstration. If you just present it as an effect, the spectators will just be left
assuming you’re able to quickly move the pea from one shell to another....*cough cough*. However,
if you can make it fun and engaging, the audience won’t care about “how”, because they’ll just be
having a blast. They know you’re moving the pea, but they’ll be wondering more about “which shell
did he move it to, and can he fool me into guessing the wrong shell.” Phill Cass does this
perfectly. My biggest question was what to do if the spectator insists on the shell you don’t want
them to choose; Phil covers this, along with the whole routine (obviously). This is the definitive
guide to the shell game, inMy opinion. You’re not going to learn all sorts of fancy moves. You only
need the basics; hence me believing this game is purely about presenting it well.
