This was my first time to see Shaun perform. There are several things about it that really made it
work for me.
As we all know there are people that perform magic that do it with an air
about them that suggests they think they really can walk on water. I don’t think those people do
magic any favors and so I’ve always liked and appreciated normal people acting in normal ways. What
I liked about Sean in this lecture is that he came across very down to earth and very likeable. He
also was good enough to put a goof on the video and talk about how he handled it. If you’ve been
performing magic for more than just a little bit, you know that things do go wrong and that how you
handle them can either save the situation and possibly give you a better outcome than you might’ve
gotten otherwise or if you don’t respond well, the spectator in the audience will not like it or you
and the rest of your time with them will be tense and acrimonious.
Sean started out with an
effect that I thought I knew the method to. Just like his other great effect, Zoltar, I was wrong.
His method was devious and it also opens up book tests to thousands of options for just a few
dollars.
His personality really came through and while he was putting everyone at ease he
was getting ready to turn the tables on them.
There are some great effects on here and you
will be fooled by them. But when you see the explanation you’ll realize you can do it. And you can
do it while having a great time and impressing your guests. The other thing you’ll learn is that
being a normal looking and acting person with good people skills will help you set the stage to
impress your audience and grease the skids toward a lot of applause and amazement.
Another
great job b Shaun
