I don't personally know Perseus, but as read his book I feel like we're friends. I've never met him,
in fact I recently sent him a message to express my appreciation and gratitude for publishing such a
great book and he's a really cool guy. After reading the book and talking to him, I felt compelled
to leave a review. I really hope this book gains the recognition it deserves.
Perseus
cares a lot about the art of Magic and you can tell how passionate he is when you read this book.
Not only is it a beautifully produced book, with excellent hand drawn illustrations, but the writing
is absolutely wonderful; clear and informative.
The focal point of MOSAIC can be summed up
in one phrase: "The power of scripting". The book opens with a couple of essays about performance
and scripting. These, for me contained purely golden advice. If you're not already convinced of the
power of scripting, read his words and they will change the way you think. The essays are followed
by around 30 excellent pieces of magic. MOSAIC cantains magic mostly with cards, some coins and even
a bit of mentalism. There's so much wonderful psychology amd theory peppered throughout and he even
includes his full script at the end of each piece. This book teaches you not only the how, but the
all-important why behind every action and word. These are the types of Magic books I enjoy reading.
They really give you a view into the artist's mind. Not only that, but they're so much fun to read.
I won't go through each of the routines in detail, but if you're familiar with Perseus
Arkomanis, then you'll know what to expect. If you're not familiar with him, then he has a few
downloads of which you can watch the trailer and full, un-cut performances of some of the pieces in
this book.
$70 may seem expensive, but when you factor in that you're getting over 500
pages of this man's life's work...30 routines...you really can't go wrong.
I know this
book is going to make me a better magician. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to improve their
magic.
