Penguin - I buy a lot of stuff from you, but there's something you NEED to do. I don't wear a jacker
EVER. I don't even own one. If a trick that you sell requires the wearing of a jacket, that should
be STRESSES in the description - I just spent $100 for a trick I can now NEVER do. I'll try to find
some other use for the envelopes, but that makes for expensive envelopes!
Douglas,
Suggest picking up a jacket. The trick is worth the effort. You can pick up an
inexpensive jacket at Goodwill if need be. If you spent $100 on this fine trick, I think you may want to spend another $10 for a jacket. I don't wear a jacket either, but I will when I want to perform "Outstanding."
I agree with Douglas and strongly disagree with "jrep". $100 is a LOT of $$$ for many of the buyers here on Penguin, especially those who are at their first jobs or have only entered the job market recently.
What would it take to simply be transparent about the fact that a jacket is a REQUIREMENT? Why are you so opposed to that "jrep"?
There's a TON of especially younger magicians out there who are in high school or college, or who perform semi-professionally at bars or clubs where absolutely NO ONE wears a jacket.
EVER.
Why should he have to purchase a jacket, no matter how much it costs, for this single trick if it's nothing he would ever wear? That's utterly ridiculous.
When I was in my 20s I never wore a jacket unless I was going to a wedding, funeral or job interview. And in many situations it would look totally out of place. Also, who the heck wears a jacket in the Summer time? For a single trick? Especially if you're in a warm climate area like LA or Fla, that would be increasing the misery of that super hot/humid locale.
Also, more and more offices across the county are increasingly allowing their employees to dress informally, especially in the Covid era.
I'm glad that you will when you're performing "Outstanding" but that still doesn't answer Doug's question; "Why can't Penguin simply be transparent? It would be the ethical thing to do. I would suggest that Doug return the trick, politely explain his reason, and at the very least request 'store credit' against future purchases.

There is a school of thought that believes that the magician should ALWAYS be the “best dressed person in the room”, and I’ve heard Johnny Thompson say the the magician should ALWAYS look like he has somewhere more important to be later…. Food for thought…
“best dressed person in the room” sounds very subjective to me. Who is the person that determines that a jacket is better dressed than a sweater? Johnny Thompson is from a different time, some of the richest most powerful people with much more important places to go than 99% of us that I have met, don't wear jackets, ever. For instance Mark Cuban will never be seen in a jacket and I would guess he has more important places he needs to be than any of us. Eat That Food
easy easy. go to a tailor and have an inside pocket sewn into your sweater.
You don't have to wear a jacket--it says in the description "from a single pocket"--that could be anywhere--a hoodie, sweater pants etc. though a jacket is the logical option. Also, the demo shows the magician using a jacket which should have tipped you off. You had the option to chat with the Penguin staff to clarify before you plopped down your money. Instead, you unfairly gave the product a 1 star review--which it utterly does not deserve- because you made a rash choice instead of exercising due diligence which is completely unfair to Marc.
