I am a fan of Patrick Redford and his material. The teaching from Craig Logan is good, the effect is
good. the video is only 12 minutes long with the basic information, history, rational, but missing
the subtleties and nuances needed to perform this as demonstrated by Patrick. I would have loved to
give this 5 stars.
Lost one Star for overselling. The demo's I watched performed by Patrick
Redford are not doable with the video instructions provided. Patrick says this can be done
surrounded, but not with the instructions provided. The routine Patrick performs is not possible
with the teaching given. Patrick shows both sides of the envelopes and says it can be done
surrounded. It looks like that is true the way Patrick performs it but this is not possible with
what is taught. It will still be a solid stage routine, but that is not why I handed over my money.
I purchased this to add to my act where I do things surrounded So I paid for a routine to add to my
show based on this. It does not work as stated with the information provided so though I like the
effect I wish I had my money back... or better yet, it was shown how Patrick performed it. His
method I think would work, but I purchased the effect based on Patricks performance and I don't have
that method.
Another star was lost for the video download not working. You can watch it on
Vimeo with the password provided, but as I cannot add this to my repetoire I will put it on the
shelf, if they change or remove the video later I won't have access to what I paid for becuase teh
video download is broken. I have tried everyday since purchase and I keep getting "sorry we are
having difficulties."
I will %100 add stars and update this review it I can learn to do
this surrounded, and be able to download the video.
If you are looking for a solid stage
routine, this is good. If you are looking to perform the effect that Patrick Redford performs in
the sales pitch demos you will not be able to do it with the information provided.
The
gimmicks provided are fine. Not what is shown in the picture for the effect and you will need to
purchase things in the future to perform, but you may already have the envelopes. They provide 5,
for you to learn with, but you will need to make other purchases to perform.
I hope they
fix the video download, and add Patrick's method so I can redo this review and give more stars, but
right now 3 is fair.
Thanks for your review. I'm not sure how I ended up here but I'm glad I did! I'm so sorry you're having trouble with the instructional videos. While I'm not aware of them ever going offline they're certainly active now and available to stream 24/7 right from the link you're provided with the purchase.
I learned to do the effect from Craig's teaching so I don't personally perform it any differently than he does (with the exception of using only three envelopes instead of five). I do perform it surrounded on occasion and the method doesn't change. You do need to be more aware of what you're doing but your hands should cover the actions.
On your last point in regards to the photo being misleading, it was a graphical choice to show a double edge blade. We provide a single edge as its a safer yet just as "dangerous."
