I recent purchased this item and I love the set with one minor complaint. While the coins feel
great and the shell is nicely made and fits the provided coins perfectly, here is my issue. The
shell does not fit on a real walking liberty 1/2 dollars. This means that you can only use the
provided coins and not real American 1/2 dollars; neither Kennedy or walking liberties.
In
my opinion, this is a major slip on the manufacturers part and, I feel, should be corrected with
later production runs.
I agree in the sense that it would be nice if they did that. but generally with replica sets the coin and shell is made for each other to get the best fit and therefore not interchangeable... otherwise you would have to just buy a regular expanded shell. that is made to fit over any walking half dollar...but with That comes with sacrifice too, usually with how deep the shell is...if you are familiar with Dean's sets from Jamie's schoolcraft. those coins are very similar the coins are milled and the shell fitted for those coins only. hopefully we'll be able to get the best of both worlds someday LOL
