I own the full set of 4 decks of the Theory 11 Harry Potter cards. They are, in a word, gorgeous.
The heavily embossed box is beautiful. Harry Potter characters on all the face cards, aces, and
jokers are instantly recognizable. For magicians, these have the feel of luxury cards. They fan
beautifully. I don't do cardistry (my 70+-year-old hands are getting too arthritic for that, but for
tricks like a 3 card monte or color monte, these perform beautifully. And there are a couple of
double-backed cards for creating your own effects.
If I had one suggestion, it would be for
Theory 11 to offer a set of double-face aces, kings, queens, or jacks. This would allow the magician
to perform the Macdonald's Aces (or kings, queens, or jacks) with these gorgeous cards. Then these
Wizard's cards can easily perform some real wizardry.
I gave a set of these cards to my
daughter-in-law for Christmas. Before she opened any of the packs, I showed her to inspect one of my
decks, telling her that in my opinion, these are going to become collectors' items, and she might
want to leave the pack seals intact. Her immediate response: "Oh no...these are going to get a lot
of use. the boys (her 14 and 12-year-old sons) are going to LOVE playing with these."
It's
pretty hard to argue with that kind of response.
