I have to take one star off due to the fact that two of the six faces of the cube are in really
faint colors and in most normal lighting very difficult to make out. I've already modified those two
faces. This is very nicely built and has the feel of something you'll keep around for a very long
time. It is a bit larger than other versions of this classic. Also, the chatter of wood on wood
makes a one handed move a bit problematic. Dan's video presents moves where that isn't an issue and
he states that he wouldn't do the one handed move anyway. I glued some velcro in the top of the lid
and in addition to looking fine it gets rid of, say, 90% of the chatter and with a little practice I
can do a close to silent manipulation. If it weren't for the two faces with the faint colors this
would be perfect. As it is, it's outstanding. Dan's routine is well covered and easy to follow and
replicate.
I meant that I glued FELT not VELCRO! Black felt glued in the inside top of the lid doesn't look out of place and really does knock off most of the sound issues in a one handed manipulation. With practice, you could probably do the same manipulation with the unmodified box with little sound. But ya gotta do it good! Practice, practice, practice!
Seeing the problems and changes need to be made. Why would I buy this,NOT.
There's to many great products out there. I would be crazy to buy this
