My jaw is on the floor. Just when you think coin magic is limited to variations, somehow, in a
fiercely intelligent, deep and entertaining way, Curtis Kam breaks new ground.
Again.
And
again.
I feel speechless.
Okay, moment of speechlessness over.
I don’t think
there’s anyone else with thinking this innovative. There’s work here where the audience doesn’t
know WHEN the magic took place and THAT actually makes it MORE powerful than if they did. There's
work where the audience doesn't SEE the magic and THAT is also more powerful than if they did.
Consider that for a moment and remember we are talking about one of the most VISUAL genres of magic.
These routines are going to offer fresh experiences for the audience. They’re saying,
“WTF?” and for completely new reasons!
And of course, the scripting is as integral as the
concepts, structure, plot and execution.
Some of my favorites are, “The Impossible is Now,”
“The Lawyer’s Tale,” “Conspiracy Nuts,” and the famous “Six Cylinder” but all the others are great
and if you’re a subscriber to “The Disclaimer” magazine (if you’re not, what are you doing?), it’ll
be a joy to see some of those routines in action.
I’ll have to watch this again and again
to mine all the gems and lessons within the explanations. Thank you again, Curtis!
