This is easily the second best lecture on Penguin. The best, of course, being Christopher Carter's
first Penguin Live lecture. But he knocks it out of the ballpark again with #2.
The effects
are great, the methods are solid, but the real treasure is Carter's understanding of dramatic
structure and audience engagement. His show as a whole is very well thought out with each effect
having a reason for its placement. His scripting and blocking have been streamlined to perfection
and every possible contingency has been considered and addressed.
Even if you end up
performing none of these effects, just understanding Carter's theories and philosophies will make
any performer, regardless of skill or genre, a much better performer. His lectures are a master
class in taking simple methods and utilities and adding layer upon layer to craft outstanding show
pieces.
