List of gimmicks need to perform the 20 minute act:
The AmazeBox
Exact Change by Gregory
Wilson
flip card
one small bit of preshow work
The handcuff ending is going to be a
marketed effect and will be an additional purchase to perform.
The effects:
Name a card.
It is done well and taught well. Personally I don't like this trick. I
have seen several different variation. To me, the audience response is laughter because they feel
awkward. The trick to me is filler and sets a weird tone(not in a good way.) However, others might
have a better experience with it.
Marked Cards.
I liked this one. It uses a
gimmick. It look good from stage. The handling is simple. I may build this deck and perform it.
There is a quick ad for his book on amazon
Medium Exposure.
The performance
and story is fine. I like the stories that he uses for his stage show better which he tells in the
explanations. You will need the exact change gimmick to perform this as shown. It is mental epic
without the board. Short Change is the ending and the gimmick is not explained. This is not a
review of exact change BUT it is a good gimmick and has some great effects you can do with it. I
personally will not be doing this effect. If I was going to perform this, I would end with Johnny
Thompsons version with no gimmicks needed and technically no force.
Tossed out words.
In the performance he uses Amazebox (not explained) and pre show work. I really like a tossed
out deck effect. I have two that I use, Christopher Carters and Chris Funks. In the advertisement I
saw the Amazebox so I was not surprised it used this prop. I do not like preshow work. It is
personal preference. It is taught well and there are suggested methods that do not use the Amazebox
in the explanations. I like the Idea of words. I don't think this is one that I will perform.
Hostage
This is the reason I bought the lecture and it was disappointing. The rope tie is
great. I perform an escape and wanted to add the handcuff ending, but in the explanation, it will
be a marketed effect. It in the advertisements. Watch the video and read what is taught.
"Hostage - an updated In/Out rope routine with handcuff ending"
Nowhere is it explained this
will be a marketed effect. I will not be doing this routine. HOWEVER, BECAUSE THE ADVERTISMENT
STATED THIS WILL BE TAUGHT, anyone that does it and DOES NOT purchase the other trick, I would 100%
understand.
I paid $20 for the lecture and felt a little burned. I would have given it
only 1 star if I paid $40. I would not have bought this lecture If I would have known the one trick
I wanted is additional purchase. There is nothing ground breaking here and there are better
versions of these tricks on the market.
