I can’t overstate this enough, Ben’s instruction for this trick will make you more magical. He
offers something in this video instruction extremely rare - real magical skill development. Any time
over the past 40+ years, I would have paid any amount for this foundational lesson. Even with the
$25 price tag may make you overlook this and say, “this isn’t for me”, “I don’t do trick decks”,
etc., well, you’d be very mistaken.
Ben does explain the provided deck, the presentation,
the whole megillah with nothing held back and it is a worker. But this is the amazing part, while as
excellent as it is, and it is, it is merely the foundation for a practical example of focusing on an
effect and thinking about how to achieve it via other means, from gaffed to hilt to near impromptu.
This is an unbelievable real life example. This theory isn't new and is frequently covered in many
magic books but so rarely with a real working example and never in such great detail and insight.
This makes what Ben is really offering here something that this is not really a lesson on a singular
trick but something for all your magic. Obviously, Ben does a better job than I am describing this,
but I can only imagine his words and experience will provide serious students for many years to come
with a map for self insight and step change improvement. Throughout Ben's explanation, he offers a
model of the most effective, attainable, realistic approaches to becoming a mature, flexible,
evolved thinking magician in the shortest time possible.
It doesn’t come with zero effort, you
need to apply it. What Ben’s approach provides is a method, an example, and renewed belief,
miracles can happen in your hands with just a deck of cards. I’m a hobbyist and maybe this
understanding is common knowledge if you’re a Pro, but in my experience, this is an atypical and
indispensable lesson on the evolution of skill that I would urge you not to pass by. You will be
better for it. How many magic purchases can you say that about?
Vanishing Inc, the world
standard for magic quality in effect and product, produced this item. And as always, Vanishing Inc
has made Permanent Record as close to perfect in every way possible and they deserve some credit for
that as well. Cheers to all!
I want to add- I don't have Mark's effect. It does appear PR comes as a more "complete" routine, as far as including a deck, and gimmicks required. Also, I have seen rumblings from some reviewers of Under Wraps saying they didn't the gimmick looked very good, or was of poor quality. I can attest that the gimmicks in Perm Record look KILLER. Very high quality and I can't imagine a spec "seeing anything" (Ben even hands out the box at a point in the return, which tells you how much confidence he has in the gimmick holding up to scrutiny. All in all, I am very pleased with Perm Record. Can't wait to get it out in the real world.
