This is a nice ungimmicked version of the Houdini escapes trick. Pablo found an irregularity in a substance and took advantage of it. Ungimmicked and impromptu, you could still do the trick without rubber bands. Not as impressive but doable. A very good entry into the Houdini-based tricks.
