Although I knew exactly how this trick was done before I bought it, it’s still a great illusion for
fooling laymen. Four items are included with the package: a standard 2001 NY state quarter, a
special gimmick, the “Sneaky Bandit” utility and another useful utility object that can be used for
many other tricks. Roy Kueppers’ craftsmanship is excellent. Overall this provides a decent value
for the price, especially since the Sneaky Bandit alternative that Magick Balay uses in the
instruction/demo costs about $50 on its own.
Some minor sleight of hand moves are required,
especially if you want to let the audience examine the coin after each transformation, but they are
basic moves that every coin magician should know and have already mastered. My only real complaint
is that the Sneaky Bandit can “talk” so the performer will need to be in either a relatively noisy
environment or talk loudly enough to distract from the noise. Instructions are short but are more
than sufficient. I highly recommend this both for beginning coin magicians as it provides a couple
of tools that are useful for other tricks and for experienced coin handlers who want a fun EDC trick
that’s a little different, looks great and has a fun story.
