Received this deck as a freebie with a recent order. The artwork on the box is amusing. I kind of
want to play the (fictional) video game depicted.
The cards feel good. The art on the back
of the cards is cool, and the faces are also cool. Everything is 8-bit style including the indexes
and pips. The attention to detail in all of the art is great!
Four stars instead of five
for two reasons: The tuck box is surprisingly difficult to open. Mine is a bit crumpled now after
finally wrestling it open. It is getting chewed up a bit more each time I open it, and I am being as
gentle as possible. Guessing if the box paper were a bit more slick it would be less inclined to
catch as it is opened.
Also, the animation is super subtle. At first I thought maybe the
cards weren't actually animated. I had to re-read the description of the cards and then really look
closely to notice it. Santa's wave is more of a wiggle. The reindeer very, very slightly wiggle
their legs. The snow barely moves. Granted, this probably makes them more functional as regular
playing cards, but I'd expected more noticeable movement.
Anyway, it is a fun deck with
fun art, and the cards are good.
