Anyone watching should immediately understand that it is a "trick," but people cannot help but have
an immediate visceral response when seeing it for the first time.
I got Patrick Kun's Halo
before with the Size 12 (23.5mm diameter, 73.83mm circumference) ring. The (Black) Crazy Sam's EXTRA
LARGE Finger Ring appears to match the exactly. Crazy Sam's comes with an additional slightly
smaller ring (I'm guessing size 11), but ends up being too small for my index finger to easily slide
on and off.
You do not actually need the ring(s) that come with this purchase if you have
alternative finger rings (instructional video gives advice on which types will work better). I use
the Halo ring as it allows me to perform other (gimmicked) effects, and also feels higher quality
(solid metal) vs. Crazy Sam's rings are lighter and feel more like plastic/resin.
In
addition to the core effects illustrated in the trailer, the main instructional video and a bonus
online lecture video include additional handlings where the "finger transplant" is covered by the
ring (similar to On/Off) or where you accidentally spawn 6 fingers on one hand or another where you
pull your pinky off in another direction.
This makes for a great combination with other
effects such as ring through finger with Garrett Thomas' Banded or Patrick Kun's Halo project. You
can then motivate Crazy Sam's routine by saying it wasn't actually the ring moving through the
fingers, it was the fingers changing places or coming off. (Haven't decided which one is the better
opening vs. closing effect.)
Makes most sense as part of a walk-around, close-up
performance to be visible enough with manageable angles. Truly an everyday carry as it requires
nothing but your own hands and fingers, while wearing a regular ring.
