BE VERY CAREFUL! I have purchased two of these wands. The first worked as intende: load...arm...fire. The second wand was defective in the following manner: After loading the wand with flash paper and sliding the arm switch to on, the wand ignited the flash paper (i.e. fired) without having to press the fire button. Very dangerous situation here. Fortunately, I was careful to make sure (as you should also) that the wand was pointed away from anything that could be harmed by the flash when I switched on the arming switch. Upon examination (while unloaded), I noticed that the heating coil glowed red anytime the arming switch was turned on. This means that any flash paper preloaded into the wand will burn immediately after arming the wand, without the need to press the firing button. Again, BE CAREFUL!
