I did not buy this item from Penguin, but I purchased an identical version from a different online
magic dealer.
It’s junk.
These cheap cages come from India, branded as Funtime
Magic, Premium Magic, Essel Magic, and Uday Magic (although I suspect they are all made by the same
company and only branded differently) The cage is poorly made and a guarantee that no one will ever
learn to perform this classic effect properly using this kind of cheap cage. In this case it is
really true that you get what you pay for. Expect to pay much more for a quality cage. Be aware that
even with a well-made cage, this is not an easy to learn effect. You will need a lot of practice to
perform it well. But at the very least you need a decently made cage to start with. The Indian-made
cages have rough finishing where they should be smooth, so they catch and hang up, impeding the
smooth performance of the effect. The gimmick that assists in the vanishing is also poorly made.
(mine broke soon after I started practicing). I gave up in frustration. (as I suspect most do).
This cage is a poor copy of a cage originally made by Milson Worth Magic Co. in the 1970's , which
itself was a cage with some design flaws , which can be somewhat overcome by making some
modifications to the cage. But as flawed as the Milson Worth cage was, the Indian-made copies are
much worse. Don't waste your money on these cheap cages, they do not work.
