This is my first review on Penguin, so please be gentle.
Skill level required:
Intermediate. This will take a beginner a while to get down. Experts will have it in a flash.
Pros:
Fantastic looking effect -- just watch the video.
There are some strong and
reusable slights taught here.
Teaching quality is very good....typical for Oz I've found.
Magic in the spectator's hand is powerful.
Cons:
Gimmicked. This trick is *so* not
impromptu.
Cold Deck. You'll need to either switch this deck in or out (or ditch some of the
cards) if the deck is going to be safely examinable.
Important notes about previous
reviews:
Some have commented on the sound problem -- this can be overcome by method and style.
Forums have good tips in this regard.
Setup -- The first time you setup will take you several
minutes, but after that, setup goes very quickly. You'll find you can setup in about a minute with
some practice. (I actually setup this trick in reverse when I practice, as a lot of the moves are
the same (so you can practice while you're setting up the trick).
Bottom Line:
If you
feel that you can routine this trick, given the cons, then get this trick. If you can't imagine
switching in a cold deck and/or switching it out in the way you perform, or if you don't typically
have a surface on which to work, as demonstrated in the video, then leave this trick alone and find
something that will better suit your style.
A note to the creator: Oz...I love your
effect; it's beautiful!
