Martin Gardner has always been my favorite writer of Magic. I got this book and was very eager to read it, but found myself growing increasingly bored.

There are some things in here that we learned as kids and performed for eve relative, like the different addition tricks etc. You'll see really interesting ideas in here though, don't get me wrong. The majority of it isn't very practical though. A lot of memorization and calculations are required to perform pretty much everything in here.

Overall I would have to say that the majority of this you will just skip over and probably won't affect you much. There is a fair margin for perofrmance material in here or other ideas that you might like, but it's not TOO highly. Make of it what you will I suppose
